War in the Middle East is not news. After all, at any given moment in this violent and complex region, there is at least one war being waged, either inside a country or between two of them. Most of the countries in the area fought a war of some kind during the last thirty years. The list includes Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Sudan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Lebanon and Israel.
However, the probability of an imminent war moved up a notch over the past few days and on the horizon there are early signs of deterioration that may lead to a much vaster war than we have been witness to in our lifetimes. The current situation may develop into a war of total destruction, a war using every means available, between two regional powers, Saudi Arabia and Iran.
